INSPIRATION
What inspired me
My parent's wedding day, took place in June 1979, at my aunt & uncle's home, in the mountains. They were married on the front porch, surrounded by close family, friends & the mountain air. Later down the road, we would visit with my family here, often. I've sat on this very porch, chatting with family & relaxing with a cup of coffee in the early a.m. If I really stop to give this thought, it's so surreal & quite special.
I remember first stumbling upon my parent's wedding prints years ago. Most of them are in a very large photo album. This book is filled with memories of my parents before my brother & I as well as photos of us growing up. You can tell by looking at the album, that it had been held, flipped through & cherished over the years. I was instantly drawn to my parent's wedding images. Peeling back the now, worn sleeves, I can hold & appreciate their wedding prints, in the way that they are intended to be viewed, tangibly. When I look at these photos, they serve as a reminder that these are the kind of moments I strive to capture in my own work. Natural & thoughtful, always.
